Teledyne Wins $2.6 Million Boeing Contract

LOS ANGELES - December 11, 2003 - Teledyne Technologies Incorporated (NYSE:TDY) announced today that Teledyne Electronic Safety Products has been awarded a $2.6 million contract by The Boeing Company of St. Louis, MO. The contract is for development and production of Teledyne's Electronic Interseat Sequencing System (EISS) for the F-15K Fighter for South Korea. The contract involves a 12-month development effort and hardware deliveries over the following two years.

The EISS is an electronic device designed to remain dormant until initiated by an aircrew member in case of an in-flight emergency requiring an ejection. Once initiated, the system controls the canopy jettison system and initiates each of the ejection seat systems. The unit is powered by either direct aircraft power or thermal batteries to the system's electronics.

Once the EISS is initiated, it determines the mode of operation via the aircrew controlled Mode Selector Switch, also a Teledyne product. Depending upon the mode selected the unit performs a prescribed set of operations to allow a quick and safe ejection from the aircraft. The unit controls all functions from initial initiation of the system (handle pull) until the seats have cleared the aircraft.

This award further reinforces Teledyne's leadership in, and dedication to, electronic escape systems. With this contract, Teledyne's Electronic Interseat Sequencing System will now be qualified in both the F-15 and the F/A-22 front-line fighters.

Teledyne Technologies is a leading provider of sophisticated electronics components, instruments and communications products, systems engineering solutions, aerospace engines and components and on-site gas and power generation systems with operations in the United States, the United Kingdom and Mexico.
